My mom had alzheimers and my dad had lost his sight form Macular degeneration... My Dad would not think of putting my mother into a home, he insisted that He would take care of her and he did... she had been an old fashioned kind of girl, for her makeup was a bit of red lipstick she put on before going to church and her jewelry was the gold band my father had placed on her hand when they got married...She had one bottle of purfume my whole life and it still had plenty left.

My father was well taken care of all his life by my mom, she adored him and waited on him hand and foot... she made him biscuits twice a day and brought him tea to his chair in the evenings.. they love one another amazingly... and he in turn spoiled her when she could no longer hold on to reality...he cooked and cleaned and she was his eyes...

I had taken them somewhere and noticed that the trash was overflowing in every room, the kitchen and the bath ,so I bundled it all up and put it in my van to take to the dump, but being a day the dump was closed, when I got home I put it in my garage.. and promtly forgot all about it.

It was close to the Holidays... Christmas and Hannukka and my son and I had gone to shop, on the way home, in 5 oclock traffic I saw a puppy trying to cross the road, she was back spots on curly white fur... I said, "OH, no the puppy will surly get killed out here in the traffic" and as I looked at my son he was so concerned and said, "MOM you not gonna let her?"  so I turned around and Paula became ours.. she was  named on the way home and loved by us both..

2 days later as I drove in the yard, I noticed garbage all over everywhere.. Sweet Paula had crawled though a tiny crack in the garage door and pulled every bit of the garbage out.. I gave her a few choice words and she watched me from under a bush as I gathered the trash up with the rake and the garbage can from the garage...

As I put the can in the van and went back to the garage to put up the rake, I opened the door and saw on the floor, my mothers gold wedding band.

I picked up Paula from under the bush and took her inside for a nice steak dinner...

My mother died the next March, her last words were to my father, "I love you" and his last act was to place that ring on her finger as she lay in her coffin..

God bless you Paula for He used you to bless us all.

Oh Bets what a wonderful story! I'm so glad little Paula had a paw in the garbage that day. I'm sure our Father had a hand in how that worked out, sounds just like how He would arrange something like that. Wow what a blessing!
