Hercules: The World's Biggest Dog Ever

According to Guinness World Records Hercules was recently awarded

the honorable distinction of Worlds Biggest Dog by Guinness World Records.

Hercules is an English Mastiff and who has a 38 inch neck and weighs 282

pounds

With "paws the size of softballs" (reports the Boston Herald), the

three-year-old monster is far larger and heavier than his breed's standard

200lb. limit.

Hercules owner Mr. Flynn says that Hercules weight is natural and not

induced by a bizarre diet: "I fed him normal food and he just "grew".

.. and grew. and grew. and grew.

Hi Karen,

Great Danes grow to about that height but not that heavy. Yikes!
I remember 'Odin' our great dane grew to a really good height in his first year. I even had a 'greyhound' Lemon Choice (Sandy pet name)
who grew as big as a great dane. I think it is in each animal breed we get throw backs where they resemble other breeds in height and size.
I have not seen a greyhound yet as big as Sandy was.

I think growth hormones are a factor too. I guess it is the same with humans. Glad to say it is only height and size that is altered and not features. We could end up looking like our dogs. Ha Ha They say that about owners, don't they, that some look like their dogs.
