I found it very disappointing Zac and I think you should read what I wrote about Lazarus to help your understanding. I found the article full of false assumptions and half truths and some things where just flat out wrong....
The first thing I didn't like about it was that he spends a great amount of time assuming what other people think and then proving that they are wrong before he even starts talking about the actually parable.
He adds to the word for example he says the rich man gave Lazarus food..... the Bible doesn't say anything about the rich man giving Lazarus food. It says Lazarus desired a crumb that fell from the rich man's table.
He says the dogs came to get food too...... he completely made that up and missed the point that the dogs had more compassion for Lazarus then what the rich man did. He totally misses the point there.
He says the name Lazarus means helpless in Hebrew... the Hebrew equivalent of Lazarus is Eleazar and it mean whom God helps.
He says Lazarus was cast out in the street....... the Bible says Lazarus was laid at the rich mans gate .... that was so the rich man would see him and hopefully show compassion for him and help him but instead the rich man walked right past him everyday the only thing the rich man cared about was himself.
He tries to prove no one is in heaven by using verses that talk about the flesh bodies of course the flesh body isn't in heaven it returns to dust, our spiritual body is the one we have in heaven not this flesh and blood body......
1Co 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a
spiritual body.
Rev 22:8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the
angel which showed me these things.
Rev 22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy
fellow servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.Ecc 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was:
and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. He tries to make a big thing about Jesus
said no man hath ascended up to heaven! " what part of no don't theologians understand?
When what Jesus really said was......
Joh 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. That goes along with the verse above Ecc. 12:7 God gave the spirit to the flesh body then the
spirit returns to God.
The guy who wrote this doesn't have a clue as to what it is really about and I have no idea why you would want to recommend it to anyone......
